Dear Diary,
Some days I sit back, look around at this company we’re building, and feel this overwhelming mix of gratitude and responsibility. Today was one of those days.
Running a people-first business isn’t just a catchy phrase for me, it’s a conviction. A non-negotiable. A way of moving through the world that I believe deeply in. At The Admin Effect, our work is important, yes, but our people… our people are everything.
They are the heartbeat. They are the reason. And today reminded me exactly why.
We had one team member celebrating a huge personal win, another quietly wrestling with something heavy at home, and a client who came to us unexpectedly vulnerable.
Three completely different moments, but all tapping into the same truth: we are doing life together. Not the Instagram-filtered version of life. Real life. The messy, wonderful, complicated, beautiful kind.
And that’s the part no one prepares you for when you build a team or a business. You sign up for systems, operations, deliverables, metrics… but what you actually get is people with full hearts, real emotions, big dreams, bad days, and everything in between. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
At The Admin Effect, we don’t pretend that life magically stops at the edge of a Zoom call or an office door. We lean in, we ask the extra question, we show up, and we check in again. Because business, at its core, is a series of human moments, and the way we handle those moments shapes everything that comes after.
If someone is celebrating, we cheer louder.
If someone is hurting, we slow down and make space.
If someone is lost, we walk with them until they find their way.
This is not a company where you have to hide the hard stuff. This is not a company where joy is rushed past. This is a company where you get to be a whole human.
That, to me, is the people-first mentality.
And it’s not always convenient. It’s certainly not always tidy. But it is always worth it. Because when we take care of our people, and I mean really take care of them, they bring their best, truest, most grounded selves to the work. And the ripple effect of that is incredible!
So dear diary, today I was reminded that culture isn’t built in the big moments, it’s built in the soft ones, the human ones. And I’m proud, truly proud, that The Admin Effect is a place where we carry the load together. Where we celebrate together. Where we grow together. Where we do real life, side by side.
Here’s to more days like this, full of heart, honesty, and humanity.
Until next time,
Katelyn
